The Audio Engineering Society will be hosting a Membership booth at the Anaheim
Convention Centre during The NAMM Show 2016, Jan 21-24. Stop by space #159 (In
the Lobby, outside of Hall B) to meet and greet AES members, get the latest
information on AES events at the NAMM show and throughout the year, and take the
time to renew your membership or become a member of the world’s largest
organization dedicated to audio engineering, standards and education.

The AES Los Angeles section is supporting the membership drive and the Society’s
NAMM presence. “With so many people onsite who actively work with professional
sound and music, it’s a great opportunity to expose NAMM attendees to the benefits
of membership in the AES,’ said David Scheirman, AES VP, Western Region USA
and Canada.

Additionally, AES expert speakers will be participating in TEC Track Presentations.
AES President John Krivit will be co-presenting an award with legendary producer
Jimmy Douglass in the Technical Achievement category during the 31st annual TEC
Awards ceremony at NAMM 2016.

TEC Tracks presented in cooperation with the Audio Engineering Society include:

How to See Through the Hype: What Audio Product Specs Don’t Tell You, and
Why

Presented by Jonathan Novick, AES Board of Governors and Audio Precision

Thursday, January 21, 2016 – 11:00am to 12:00pm

TEC Lab (202 B)

Audio specifications can sometimes be confusing or even misleading. Musicians,
sound technicians, DJs, pro audio sales staff and anyone else who selects, works
with or recommends audio equipment will want to understand some simple truths —
the relationship between power ratings and distortion measurements, for example.
Learn about, and hear examples of, some of the basic issues in the signal path that
can affect your sound on stage or in the studio, from mixer to amplifier to
loudspeaker.

Audio Formats for Film and Video Releases

Presented by Brian Seagrave, AES Los Angeles Section Committee and Modern
VideoFilm, Inc.

Thursday, January 21, 2016 – 4:00pm to 5:00pm

The Forum (203 A-B)

While the current music business model has caused reduction in available budgets,
and has made chances for success and profitability difficult, the film/video
production market is strong. Professional content creators must create in surround
formats — no longer stereo — which stimulates growth in all retail studio product
areas. This panel will bring you up to speed on the audio formats you need to know
about.

Thinking Outside the Box in Manufacturer/Artist Relations

Presented by Tim Shuttleworth, AES Board of Governors

Friday, January 22, 2016 – 12:00pm to 1:00pm

The Forum (203 A-B)

Building bonds between manufacturers and music artists has become ever more
innovative and practical. Whereas giving your product to an artist in hopes of him
or her performing with it has certainly been of benefit to both parties, modern
relationships demand more customized attention to the customer. This panel,
composed of both manufacturers and artists, will discuss the unique type of
mutually beneficial relationships they have developed.
