The first day of PLASA Show 2015 saw a busy show floor, with exhibitors reporting
a higher quality of visitors than in 2014 and a steady flow of traffic throughout the
day.

“It’s been a fantastic first day, we have had a really positive reaction to the stand
and people have been truly thrilled with the theatrical environment,’ says Robe CEO
Josef Valchar. “The One Light Show, a performance lit by leading South African LD
Michael Broderick, was completely sold out. We could easily have doubled the
capacity! The hourly rock lightshow was also really well received, attracting
hundreds of people to the stand every time. Generally, it was super busy the whole
day and we saw a good mix of people.”

Jonathan Walters, UK Sales and Purchasing Director for A.C. Entertainment
Technologies Ltd. (AC-ET) concurs.

“We’ve had a fantastic first day of the show,’ he says. “There was a lot of interest
in our newly launched, dedicated A.C. Film & TV sales division, which includes the
new Chroma-Q Studio One 100 white LED PAR, which has been nominated for a
PLASA Award For Innovation, and many other popular brands in this sector.

“Within our 600m2 exhibitor zone (stands F30 – F38), which includes dedicated
stands for some of the brands we supply exclusively in the UK and selected other
territories, our ProLights lighting and video show, set around the current racing car
of British Touring Cars driver Jack Goff, has received much interest.

“Overall, there were lots of visitors checking out our ‘one stop’ portfolio of leading
lighting, audio, rigging and video entertainment technologies, and various project
installations featuring these technologies, often provided by our sister Special
Projects installations company.”

Koy Neminathan, Sales Director Avolites & Avolites Media adds, “We were
extremely busy all day. We have changed the way our stand looks for this year and
it’s worked fantastically.’

PSCo, Autograph, SSE and Current RMS were amongst other companies that
reported a good first day’s business, with Current RMS taking over 40 sales leads by
mid afternoon.

The evening’s events were equally successful, with Robe’s 007-themed party at the
Cafe de Paris and the eighth Knights of Illumination Awards (KOI) ceremony, held at
London’s art deco Troxy, both hailed a sparkling success. The ever-popular awards,
organised by The Association of Lighting Designers (ALD), The Society of Television
& Lighting Design (STLD), The Fifth Estate Ltd and Clay Paky, was hosted by prolific
international lighting designer Mark Jonathan, with Fred Foster, CEO of Electronic
Theatre Controls, Inc. (ETC) receiving the Lifetime Recognition award.

“We’re delighted that the show got off to such a good start,’ says Christopher
Toulmin, Director of PLASA Events. “Day two will see many exhibitors launching
new products and with the show open until 8pm, it is set to be another busy and
exciting day.’
