South London based live event and technical solutions specialist PR Live has
invested in its own LED screen surface, with an initial purchase of 120 panels of
Absen A3 Pro 3.9mm pitch high definition product, complete with all necessary
processing and rigging.
This is the first of a series of planned LED screen purchases which will expand the
company’s substantial video department which also currently features Christie high
powered projectors, High end video switchers, processing and a selection of media
servers.
PR Live’s Justin Hammond comments, “LED screens are becoming increasingly
prominent in the shows and events for which we design and supply equipment, so
we are expanding the department. We wanted a premium multi-purpose product
particularly to service our high-end corporate work … and that was also ideal for
our general music and live event based work’.
Justin and the team at PR Live looked at several options before choosing the Absen
3.9, a brand that is renowned for its excellent engineering and reliability that was
also recommended by several other individuals and companies.
Talking more generally, Justin explains that as PR Live has been steadily increasing
its video capabilities and good quality LED is now becoming more cost-efficient, it
made sense to purchase their own kit.

Absen was chosen for its light weight, quick and practical cabling, intuitive
programming and flexible rigging which also includes a straightforward ground-
supported option … in addition to being flown. The product was supplied via UK
distributor PSCo.
The LED has been busy since it arrived at PR Live on a diversity of events including
for Google, DHL and Warner Music.
The black-bodied SMD A3 Pro is scalable to any size or shape with no visible seams,
showcasing content perfectly and with great clarity and uniformity, offering viewing
angles that are conducive to comfortable large screen viewing.
The die-cast aluminium 500 x 500 mm panels are designed for precision alignment
utilizing a unique panel locking system that is mega-fast to set-up on a live event,
combined with the light weight of just 10Kgs per panel.
Magnetic front-serviceable modules allow easy access for maintenance, saving time
on site – and are 5 times quicker to access than screw-in modules.
The high brightness (≥ 1,200 nits) and contrast deliver a beautiful image, and even
when brightness is reduced to 20%, the screen features superior consistency.
A superior 3000:1 contrast with deep black levels reinforces the stunning image
quality, while Pixel level calibration provides highly accurate colour consistency and
brightness uniformity across the entire display surface.
The high 2,000Hz refresh rate ensures a smooth, flicker-free display that is ideal
for running fast moving content without ghosting or tearing.
