Genelec, the leader in active monitoring loudspeaker technology, is pleased to
announce that following a hugely successful VIP launch at Metropolis Studios in
London, “The Ones’ family of compact three-way coaxial loudspeakers will be
making their European trade show debut at High End Munich. The Ones will be
taking centre stage on the Genelec booth, and visitors are invited to experience for
themselves just how revolutionary their “Ultimate Point Source’ performance really
is.
The Ones range comprises three models – the 8351, which has already established
itself as the new standard in audio monitoring – and the newer, more compact 8331
and 8341 models. The Ones’ Ultimate Point Source design utilises concealed dual
woofers and the acclaimed Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC™) driver, to
overcome the off-axis colouration associated with traditional loudspeaker designs.
Each model can be orientated horizontally or vertically using an adjustable IsoPod
base for vibration isolation, with absolutely no compromise in performance, offering
maximum flexibility to fit all interior requirements. While the 8331 and 8341 both
echo the visionary design of the 8351 in form and function, including a frequency
response extending beyond 40 kHz, the two newer models have been entirely re-
engineered to meet the challenges of their ultra-compact dimensions (just 299mm x
189mm x 212mm for the 8331, and 350mm x 237mm x 243mm for the 8341).
The Ones are also powerful: the short-term maximum output capacities for each of
the models is 104 dB SPL for the 8331 (at 1m), and 110 dB SPL for the 8341 (at
1m), with accuracy better than ±1.5 dB, and respective frequency responses
starting at 45 Hz and 38 Hz (-6 dB) and extending beyond 40 kHz both for the
analogue and digital inputs. Finally, with The Ones, Ultimate Point Source meets
ultimate flexibility with Smart Active Monitoring (SAM™), the ground-breaking
Genelec technology based on Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM™) software for
PC and Mac, incorporating AutoCal™. GLM & AutoCal make it simple to create the
optimal loudspeaker set-up in any type of space by automatically compensating for
any detrimental room influences and creating the optimum listening environment –
even in challenging rooms.
To emphasise the broad range of Genelec’s product portfolio, visitors to the booth
will also be able to see and hear the company’s full home audio range, comprising
the G Series loudspeakers and F Series subwoofers. The G One, Two and Three
models have all recently been upgraded to “B’ versions, which now feature a
switched-mode power supply and Class D amplifiers for increased power output and
SPL, as well as improved portability. Other improvements include the addition of
two extra rear panel switches: one to reduce the level by 10dB, and one to control
the Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS™) feature, which switches the speaker to a low-
power “sleep’ mode when not being used for a period of time.
