Robe Lighting heads for South Africa to present a selection of its latest moving lights and LED technology on stand – C18 – at Mediatech Africa, Africa’s leading media and entertainment technology tradeshow, hosted at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa from 17 to 19 July 2019.
A popular and well-respected brand in South Africa, this is the second time that Robe hosts its own stand at Mediatech, supporting its local distributor DWR.
Expo visitors can look forward to meeting up with key Robe people including CEO Josef Valchar, international sales director Harry von den Stemmen, theatre and performing arts specialist Dave Whitehouse – who previously worked at DWR Distribution – lighting and media designer Nathan Wan and technical specialist Radim Zlebek.
Robe continues to celebrate its 25th year of business and creativity, bringing innovation, reliability and excellent product design to the diverse and dynamic world of ‘entertainment technology’, and several cool Robe products will be highlighted including:
T1 Profile
The T1 Profile is designed to fulfil the challenging requirements of three very diverse disciplines – theatre, television and touring – in one comprehensive fixture.
The revolutionary new MSL™ (Multi-Spectral Light) LED light source is impressively bright, yet the T1 Profile is full of theatrical subtlety. With CMY colour control, a radical new custom colour creation system and wide-ranging CCT control from 2700K to 8000K, all variations of colour are possible!
A closed optical system prevents dust and dirt, and the precise needs of theatrical dimming are catered for with Robe’s ultra-smooth 18-bit dimming system. A high CRI provides natural skin tones so fundamental to theatre and television/film applications.
A plus / minus green channel and Cpulse™ flicker-free management are other strong features for TV, movies, video shoots and other related camera/vision system applications.
T1 Wash
The new one-and-only wash fixture you need for theatre, television and touring.
It is specifically designed to fulfil the challenging requirements of these diverse applications within one wash fixture. The new revolutionary MSL™ (Multi-Spectral Light) LED engine provides an output reaching 10.000 lumens. It’s impressively bright.
Using either the Fresnel or PC lens supplied, T1 Wash is full of theatrical subtlety. With CMY colour control, DataSwatch™ filters containing a selection of pre-programmed colours via the new generation RCC™ (Robe Colour Calibration) algorithm and a wide-ranging 2700K to 8000K CCT control – all variations of colour are possible for even the most demanding designers. The precise needs of theatrical dimming are catered to with our new L3™ Low Light Linearity dimming system. Also, the high CRI of 90+ provides natural skin tones.
For television work, there is the plus / minus green channel and Cpulse™ flicker-free source management.
SuperSpikie
The SuperSpikie was launched at PLASA 2018 and there has been no looking back!
Bigger, brighter and bolder, the SuperSpikie takes the single beam light look to new heights!
It is four times brighter than the original Spikie, launched in 2016, and with the addition of aerial rotating gobos, it becomes a neat little effects machine with even more looks to blast through its substantial high quality 165mm front lens.
SilverScan
This is the first of Robe’s special edition “silver” range. The SilverScan highlights 25 years of ROBE lighting fixtures and their continuing evolution resulting in new advanced technology while bringing moving light design back to its roots – a small, good-looking performance-based LED scan.
This fixture revisits the spirit and pioneering days of moving lights and combines it with the latest tech and best engineering available, offering all the features everyone loved from the ‘scan era’ when the concept of moving lights became etched in the consciousness of the entertainment technology industry.
Speed, outstanding colours and beautiful gobos have always been Robe’s top priorities – and these are all exceptional in the SilverScan.
BMFL FollowSpot
Created specifically for follow-spot operation, this custom modified version of BMFL comes with specific features to provide both motorised movement and manual operation with follow-spot handles.
Based on the powerful BMFL WashBeam, it blasts beams of extra bright output and has an abundance of great features.
The BMFL FollowSpot takes advantage of its wide 160 mm front lens and a high CRI 1700W lamp. With a custom light source designed for Robe, it produces an astounding 251.000 lux at 5 metres and has a wide zoom range of 5° to 45° with precise focusing.
BMFL WashBeam
The strong-arm of the BMFL™ family – the superbly powerful BMFL WashBeam comes with extra bright output and an abundance of great features, e.g. newly developed framing shutters, super wide front lens and animation wheel.
MegaPointe
MEGA bright with MEGA features and still compact. The MegaPointe elevates the original all-in-one fixture to a whole new level. Unleash your creativity using the bright, sharp parallel beams, excellent gobo projection, precise movement, smooth CMY colour mixing and dimming plus a multitude of beam splitting, wash and shaping effects.
The Robe R&D team worked with Osram to provide a 470W lamp that aligns perfectly with the cutting edge optical system. This design provides a brilliant, crystal clear, razor-edged beam, adjustable from a punchy 1.8 out to a wide 42-degree zoom.
RoboSpot
The revolutionary RoboSpot follow spot system allows follow spot operators to remotely control up to 12 fixtures simultaneously without the safety concerns and impracticality of placing personnel at the top or in the roof of venues like stadiums, indoor arenas, concert halls, theatres, etc. or at height in TV studios or on film sets.
As many as 12 perfectly synchronized fixtures can follow a performer across the stage giving designers a massive amount of additional options.
Remote operators can now safely control multiple fixtures such as the BMFL range of products (exc. BMFL Wash), plus Robe’s T1 Profile, T1 Profile FS, DL7S, DL4S, MegaPointe and Pointe … from any location within a venue, in the process also reducing set-up times and operating costs.
Divine 160
The Divine 160 is a high-performance 440W luminaire with phenomenal light output that can be used for a variety of entertainment and architectural lighting scenarios including the application of dynamic colour changing effects to building exteriors and façades, or illuminating complete areas with subtle CCT controllable white light.
