SACIA launches new TLE professional designations

During Mediatech Africa 2017, SACIA launched its new TLE professional designations
for theatre and live event professionals. To apply for the designation, individuals are
required to write a 100-question multiple-choice exam that tests their knowledge
across 15 competencies including:

• Audio

• Av operations

• Cabling and signal management


• Display

• Event power

• Health and Safety

• Laser

• Lighting

• Management

• Pyro

• RF

• Rigging

• Stage craft

• Temporary structures

• Video

The questions used in the SACIA TLE designation tests have been compiled by a
community of expert practitioners active in the market. Questions are randomly
selected from a question bank and are assessed on an ongoing basis to ensure they
remain valid. Additional questions are also added as technology evolves.

The exam fee is R500 (US$40 paid via PayPal). During the introductory month, 100%
of this fee will be donated to the SOS Fund to assist technicians who are in need of
special assistance.
