dB Technologies Deutschland, the SGM German distributor, has announced the sale of the first 300 SGM P-5 LED washlights to some of the country’s leading rental companies.
“We are delighted with the response, as this is before we take into account the architectural market for which the P-5 was designed,’ said MD, Michael Herweg.
Drawing just 450 watts, the IP66-rated P-5 uses 44 high power RGBW 10W LED’s outputting a total of 23,666 lumens. Michael Herweg confirms that the groundswell of interest had begun in April at the Prolight+Sound Show in Frankfurt, where rental company customers were queuing up to see SGM’s new LED technology embodied in a sleek chassis.
“There was also huge interest in the X-5 and XC-5 strobes, so we decided to create a series of starter packs,’ he said. “Each comprises 24 P-5, eight X-5 and eight XC-5 fixtures.’
The revolutionary LED-based strobes have already captured the imagination of the German market through the summer — on a variety of shows and events. The white strobes appeared prominently on comedian Bulent Ceylan’s arena tour (specified by LD Tobi Deuring), while the Mayday Techno party in Dortmund’s Westfallenhalle saw 50 X-5’s and 40 XC-5 RGB strobes, specified by LD Thomas Gerdon and supplied by production company, schoko pro, dominating proceedings.
Then more recently at the Deichbrand Festival in Cuxhaven/Nordholz, 42 X-5 and 30 XC-5, specified by Robert Sommer of Pool Group, appeared across the three stages in front of 25,000 people.
The dB Technologies MD admits the reaction has caught him by surprise. “We decided to make up starter packs after we had measured the response,’ he said. “We will be approaching all our key accounts this month and demonstrating the new products in our 700 sq. metre showroom in Koln.
“The reaction has completely exceeded expectations and these are very exciting times for SGM.’
