TV Audio, a South African-based audiovisual and staging distributor, recently announced its company rebrand and name change at a prestigious event held at their Midrand offices. On August 18, 2022, colleagues and friends from the professional audiovisual industry gathered to celebrate the 40th anniversary of TV Audio. The well-timed event followed a lengthy downtime in the events industry due to Covid-19 restrictions and provided a much-needed networking and social platform for the industry. The evening’s proceedings began with a live performance by South African band Rubber Duc, followed by an up-tempo party act from Brent Harris and Thee Jam, which entertained the crowd until the late hours of the evening. Throughout the night, a plethora of delicious food and beverages were available for guests to enjoy.
During the event, the crowd gathered outside, where owner Peter Berry appeared on a balcony and delivered a heartfelt speech about the trials and tribulations of the past forty years in business and the company’s future.
TV Audio’s journey began in the 1970s as a TV repair shop on Louis Botha Ave, Orange Grove. In 1982, Peter seized an opportunity presented by long-time friend Anthony Chavkin to buy into the company. Over the years, the duo created a formidable TV spares and electronics components shop.
In 2001, the company ventured into new territory when it began distributing Skytronic’s range of sound, lighting, and accessories. Peter subsequently took over TV Audio in its entirety and continued to pave the way to its current position: a well-respected distributor of reliable professional audio, lighting, and AV brands.
The time had come for the company’s name to reflect the true core of the business, and what better occasion than its 40th anniversary? The brand-new StageOne logo was unveiled during a spectacular technical performance of sound, fire, and light. “From now on, we will be trading under a new name, a name that we believe tells it all: what we do, where we are going, and what we are good at. What we are number one at… product availability, customer service, and solving customer challenges,” Berry concluded.
