The 2018 iteration of Prolight+Sound 2018, being held at the Messe Frankfurt from 10 to 13 April, is currently underway. The Pro-Systems editorial team is at the show, together with an impressive group of representatives from across South Africa’s entertainment technology sector.

Prolight+Sound 2018 once again brings the major players in the entertainment technology industry under one roof for a comprehensive trade show and full conference package. The opening day of the show was – admittedly – quieter than usual, but this was largely due to industrial action at German airline Lufthansa, which delayed many visitors’ arrival. However, by Wednesday the show floor was brimming with action – with product launches, demonstrations and shows from across the industry.

Having visited two of the main halls thus far, we have enjoyed catching up with a wide range of manufacturers, including Robe Lighting, Elation, Chauvet, Claypaky, DiGiCo, GrandMA and Prolyte to name only a few and look forward to meeting with new people across the industry.

One of the highlights of Prolight and Sound is always the breathtaking demonstration that is put together by PRG Production – one of Europe’s largest production and rental groups. This year was no exception, and the Pro-Systems team had the privilege of watching the show at the Festhalle at Messe Frankfurt and enjoying a backstage tour with lighting designers Joshua Cutts and Christopher Bolton, together with representatives from several of South Africa’s largest production companies and distributors.
